The island of Fuerteventura is the second in extension in the whole community, with 1,657 square kilometres. The oldest and the most eastern island of the whole archipelago, only 100 kms away from the African coast; Island of Lobos, 6 kms. away, have become part of its territory.
The centre of the island is formed by a high mountain, the Betancuria with 762 metres, (Peak of the Atalaya).
Isthmus of the Pared and the Jandia peninsula in the south with its highest peak of the Zarza with 807 metres.
