Lanzarote island, (Las Palmas)
Lanzarote has a population of 114.715 inhabitants according to ISTAC and a surface of 845 square kilometres. It is 1000 Kms away from the peninsula and only 100 kms away from the African coast. Lanzarote is the most eastern island of the whole archipelago and the islets of Alegranza, La Graciosa, Montaña Clara, Roque del Este and Roque del Oeste have become part of its territory.
The highest peak of the island is Peñas del Chache with a high of 670 m. Worth a mention is the natural park of Timanfaya which was declared Biosphere Reserve by the Unesco. The island has the longest submarine tunnel, called the "Tunel de la Atlantida" It has wide beaches with white sands. Site Map Favorites |
