Escapade, fancy dress costumes

There comes a time in you life when you simply need to have a party. For many people this will be a birthday, for many others Halloween is the perfect time to gather a selection of ghoulish friends and, quite often, assorted randomers to trash your house/apartment/local bar. Some people choose to have a party for no reason at all, other than the craic. One of the most popular types of party has always been fancy dress, which offers guests a great opportunity to escape the everyday grind of life into a fantasy world of Fred Flintstones, princesses and six foot tall dogs.

Animals

If you are going to have a farmyard theme for your party, you will probably see a wide range of animal costumes. Popular costumes include cats (mainly for women) and dogs (which are more popular with men). Prince Harry would have avoided his most infamous controversy - turning up at a 'colonial' themed party in a Nazi uniform - if he had stuck to lion suits like everyone else!

Children

Kids love fancy dress. Children's costume can be a tricky area for parents because some costumes can be dangerous. It is best to avoid costumes which can potentially block breathing, such as those with masks. Children love dressing up and are often very enthusiastic about the latest trend, whether that is Power Rangers or Spongebob SquarePants - always consult your child before plumping on a costume for them.
